BIENNALE DI VENEZIA 2026 - ITALIAN PAVILION
Artist: Chiara Camoni | Title: Con Te Con Tutto. | Curator: Cecilia Canziani
2026.09.19
If scale and size alone were important, Chiara Camoni's installations would already be impressive. A vast space dedicated to the vision of one artist. I will only talk about the first space.
You enter on one side of a large warehouse space, relatively unimportant entrance, arriving into the installation almost by chance. The viewer then has to adjust to the axis of the space, joining in on what has already started. You are late. The installation doesn't wait. The conversation has begun, the perspective has shifted, the outlook is imposing.
Brilliant in its execution, this carefully spotlit forest of figures within a dimly lit space stretches to the point where you actually cannot see where it ends. The sheer number of figures is awesome enough. Their placement inspired. Their beauty completes it. Yet, you know that isn't why they are here.
They are here to confront you. As you encounter each figure you ask the question. They just stare past. They know you know. The time for pretense is finished. Understanding, acceptance, and transformation is required. We can no longer continue as we were.
Together, we and these creatures, are invited "to build a different way of being in the world."
