EDITORS NOTE
Having lived in six countries across three continents, John Clements has developed a deep appreciation for different cultures, landscapes, and ways of seeing the world. These experiences continue to inform both his writing and his artistic practice. He currently lives in the Liguria region of northern Italy, where he dedicates his time to pursuing his two lifelong passions: literature and the visual arts.
In 2024 Clements co-founded the Arroscia Residency, an international artist residency located in the historic town of Pieve di Teco. The residency brings together artists from around the world, creating opportunities for creative exchange, collaboration, and engagement with the unique cultural heritage of the Ligurian Alps. Arroscia Residency’s mission is to promote artists by giving then space and time in which they can pursue their craft. ThinkArt is a component of the Residency which aims to promote the full spectrum of the arts - and as such, sponsored the development of ThinkArt Magazine.
As a writer, John has published work in two online magazines and is currently completing his first novel. His writing draws on his international experiences and explores themes of place, identity, creativity, and human connection. Whether through words or visual expression, John’s work reflects a curiosity about the world and a commitment to fostering dialogue across cultures.
The idea of ThinkArt Magazine came about from the desire to promote the vision of artists from all around the world to those who may not have had exposure to the field of art, instilling a love for creativity and beauty. Art, and artists, has historically been an important vehicle to convey the state of the world around us as it is, its challenges and its wonder, beauty, and promoting a view of what the world should be. In today’s world of technology and social media it is far simpler to transmit this message to the far reaches of civilization. Building bridges across diverse cultures is a vital mission that art has much to contribute to. It is to this that ThinkArt Magazine is dedicated.
