Biennale di Venezia 2026  |  Pavilion: Kingdom of Morocco  |  Artist: Amina Agueznay  |Title: Asetta  |   Curator: Meriem Berrada

Architecture, fiber, texture, color, screens all interlaced into one majestic composition. The room at the Arsenale disappears as the woven forms become the architecture. Patterns emerge and dance around the room. Scale is masterfully played with, from the massive horizontals, to the tall vertical screens, to the delicate woven symbols stitched together to form visually translucent walls. All expertly executed textiles recalling the ancient manual traditions of Morocco.
Threshold. Our world is always at the threshold of something new. Humanity continues to push advances. Our ecosystems are pressured to the extreme. Our institutions and governments are driven to exhaustion. Our communities are shoved aside. Humanity is in fact on the threshold.
Will our humanity, our traditions, our communities, everything we deem sacred, be able to guide us through to the other side? Will our ability to create, as this installation seems to declare, allow humanity to survive? Beauty. Tradition. Rooted in the past, the future seems bright.
